Sweat It Out

Corn likes to sweat. Sweat without the annoyance of physical exertion, that is.

So, today, we went to a Scandinavian spa in Old Montreal. It opened in December. Basically the deal is: hot, cold, relax. and repeat for as long as your pores desire. We were glad it was so close, so we decided to check it out. It was 42$ to use the thermal areas - sauna, eucalyptus steam room and hot tub. The place is pretty small, indoors and the 'cold' portion of the routine is pretty minimal (one cold shower and a tiny cold pool). Our experience was just, alright I'd say. I'd definitely go back if it was 25$. But $42 is definitely overpriced. Hey, it's Old Montreal, so they've basically cornered the downtown market.

The best Scandinavian Spa I've experienced so far is the Polar Bear Club near St. Adele. Which is outdoors and about an hour away. WAY more fun, cheaper, worth the drive I think.

I've also been to the Nordik near Ottawa with Ma H, my aunt and my sis. It was really nice too.

I think next time we'll try this place on the South Shore. I like the outdoor idea better.

I always forget about the Silence Nazis at these places. You're technically supposed to be 'relaxing' - so talking is pretty much prohibited. I always manage to forget this rule and end up getting shushed by an employee. SHUSH, YOU! If I'm paying you 42 bucks to be here, I wanna be able to bitch about it out loud. HEH. I think that's why they shush you. No talking about being ripped off....

We still feel pretty good now, though. All purified and what not. I left all my pore squeezin's in the sauna.

It's our 5 year anniversary! Heading out to a nearby bring-your-own wine for some good good eats.

Have a relaxing weekend!

The first sign of a strong relationship is the ability to fart in front of each other.
The second, I think, is the ability to sweat it out together, spa style. 'Course, there are other sweaty activities that can really keep the ol' spark alive...

Just one question: In your case, is spa-ing a kind of Corn roast?
