Friends, today I lost someone very special.
I forgot that it was the regular 'cleansing of the staff fridge' day and anything
that wasn't labelled was going to go to the giant cafeteria in the sky.
Oh, Lunch, I miss you.
A Tribute to My Lunch. Lost in The Great Fridge Cleaning of 2007.
Rest in peace, Lunch.
I remember like it was yesterday...
packing you up after dinner. Leftovers to take to work.
You were the kind of lunch that gets you through the morning. Not the hastily thrown-together sandwich with wilty lettuce and expired cold cuts. Nay!
You were the kind of lunch that makes people grin and say,
"Guess what I have for lunch today?!"
Lunch..we were so young, back then. And I'll admit, a little naive. But I never thought we'd part this way. Not today. Not before I got to say goodbye.
I'll always remember the last time I saw you. So peaceful in your litte tupperware container, beside the yogurt and that baggie of trail mix. Wiling away the morning hours in air conditioned comfort.
It was my fault, of course. I should have remembered the warning. I should have seen it coming. Perhaps I was so all-consumed with the prospect of our reunion that everything else was below the radar.
Either way, Lunch, you're gone. And even though Amber got me a sangweech from Subway, I want you to know, I cried a little as I ate it.
So, Lunch...ashes to ashes, crumbs to crumbs...
I make you this promise:
I will never treat another lunch the way I treated you. Unless it's a crap sandwich with wilty lettuce and expired cold cuts and I can persuade Amber to buy me another sangweech from Subway.
But aside from that , I promise.
R.I.P.

That was, {sniff, sniff} BEE-YOU-TEE-FUL!
I never got the chance to meet you Lunch, but I feel like I know you, and I too will mourn your loss.
I shed a tear for you now, and will drink a beer for you later this evening.
Here's hoping you live on in some street bums tum-tum a little while longer.
See you on the other side...
We're taking up a collection here in Hamilton.
Remember what they say -
When one lunch goes, another one is prepared to take its place. Find comfort in that.
The only thing worse than losing your lunch is when you toss your cookies right after.
:)
N@, you make me laugh every day! Thanks!
Milky
Aare you insane woman?? You had me feeling so sad as I read that heading "R.I.P" and then you started talking about food? whats wrong with you woman?? We greeks usually eat just for the sake of eating, we don't even need to be hungry... I will drop off a little mousaka or souvlaki for ya.
Have a great weekend!
My thoughts are with you.
Where your lunch is going to be exposed, and can we send flowers? Unless you prefer a donation to the charity of your choice? ;-)
That's it, I'm organizing a global concert to bring awareness to the plight of lunches everywhere.
Headliners will include John "Oscar" Mayer, Bolono, and of course the Chili Peppers.
