Another bad snack...

This used to be a good snack. Now it chews diapers:

CRACKER JACK. I hadn't had this since I was a kid and bought a bag not long ago.
2 FREAKIN' PEANUTS IN THE WHOLE THING, MAX. Boo. Boo times a zillion. Stingy peanut people.

I hope to Gawd you got a toy surprise in the Cracker Jack, at least.

I do agree, however, that it either isn't as good as it once was, or we just remember it as being better.

Only two peanuts? That's a crime! It seems nothing is as good as it used to be :(

Umm...i didn't know Cracker Jack's were supposed to even have peanuts...

my mom says that one thing that used to be soo good and that now takes the diaper trail is the Laura Secord easter egg (with the sugary yolk..hmm...yolk is a funny word!) ..it's used to be good and now it's just chemical replacements for sugar..tastes like plastic. booo on the food industry, coasting on emotional taste memory rather than making their stuff actually tasty!!

btw, here's a link to an Globe and Mail article featuring one of my schoolmates research about organic food and worth a read: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/Page/document/v5/content/subscribe?user_URL=http://www.theglobeandmail.com%2Fservlet%2Fstory%2FRTGAM.20070530.wfood30%2FBNStory%2FNational%2F&ord=28926529&brand=theglobeandmail&force_login=true

It's a conspiracy, I tells ya. Them high-falutin' companies have turned the good old things into diaper suckers, just so that when we reminisce about them and young folks try them, they think we're suffering dementia.

Dam them all, I says. Now, where did I put the pixie sticks?

mmmmmmmmmmmmm Pixie-stix. I'm droolin' just thinkin' 'bout 'em!

Jeeze... I can still remember the sugar buzzes... where your vision blurred and your teeth actually hurt from the uber-sweetness.

And Lick-a-sticks! I used to LIVE on Lick-a-sticks in the summer as a kid! (there's a joke there about my membership and lick-a-sticks but it's just too easy).

And Gobstoppers and jaw-breakers and... and... and...

...and I wonder why I'm diabetic now! lol

...ah well...

Good times, good times.

Does anyone remember the first two weeks of November in any of the first 12 years of your life, or is it just a warm, comfy, sugary post-Halloween haze to you, too?

Rockets, candy kisses (LOVE the melassesy sweetness and teeth-stuck-together happiness), Mackintosh's MacCreamy MacToffee ("...lasts (smack) a long, long time") all-day lollipops, 5-cent chocolate bars -- especially EAT-MORE, the wrapper of which you could fold so that it said EAT-ME.

Droooooooooool.

Kitty, you're probably right about the origins of my diabetes, too. Heredity be damned! You're also right about your love of lick-a-stick and its connection to your MEMBERship being too easy to comment on.

EAT MORE!

Oh
MY
G-A-W-D!

I LOOOOOOOOOOVE EAT MORES! They are the best! And WigWam bars...

And rocket candies too, but *I* only ate the white ones... I didn't like the others (don't ask me why, just because, OK!?!?!)

And that also reminds me of NECCO WAFERS! YUM!

And POP CAPS...

And SWEET TARTS...

OK, I've gotta calm down, I feel the onset of a diabetic coma, just from all these sweet Sweet-Memories!

...oh wait!
...one more...

...LIME RICKY pop from the Pop Shoppe! EVERYTHING was better with a swig of Lime Ricky!

Pop Shoppe? Are you kidding me? Sure, it was cheap, because it was watered down. That meant less of a sugar and caffeine buzz.

Remember pop rocks? Ow! That hurts the roof of my mouth.

Pop Rocks and Coke my friend... a CLASSIC!

EAT MORES SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bob said...

Maybe East-More did/does suck (although I disagree) but wasn't it fun to make the wrapper say EAT-ME? Wasn't it? Huh?

Sean Newbury said...

Dems fighting words N@!

And just what mamby-pamby bar did/do you like??? hmmmmm?

I liked the lick-a-stick joke/membership. Funny.

I used to love Cracker Jax and now my kids LOVE EM'

Re: Lime Ricky Pop Shoppe pop -- Costco is selling a "24" of assorted Pop Shoppe bottles -- Lime, GRAPE (my personal fave), Cream Soda, Orange, Root Beer and (eew) Black Cherry. Don't know who makes the stuff now, but it seems to taste the same -- not in stubbies, though, which is a shame :)

I am SO going to Costo!

Also great @ Costco - SOLE ELITES.
In the frozen fish aisle. I am not a fan of 'fishy' fish - THESE ARE FANTASTIC STUFFED SOLE - not fishy, individually wrapped - and good for ya! Super yum.

OK, Nat, Cracker Jacks do suck. What you have to get is something called Crunch n' Munch. Although, truth be told, I've never been able to find it in Quebec, so everytime I head to Ontario, I'm in the grocery store stocking up. It's far superior to Cracker Jacks. Hey - remember the pink popcorn with the elephant on the box? Those rocked!! Have a great weekend!!!

Fiddle-Faddle is good too!

do you guys remember Bazooka Joe gum? You had to chew the gum like crazy and you'd get a headache from all the chewing. The comics were lame though...

What else?? Ring pops, lick a stick, pop rocks, popeye cigarettes, we think we looked cool as kids smoking our fake cigs.Jujubes, red rapberries, and jelly teddy bears, little chocolate dimes with colourful sprinkles.

Getting hungry, need a sweet fix now lol.

have a great weekend everyone

I always pick out the peanuts, I'm all for the sticky popcorn that will take out your fillings and make the dentist rich :p
